Sioux Falls SNIP!
We are pleased to announce the partnership of Almost Home Canine Rescue and SDCCA and the establishment of Sioux Falls SNIP.
Almost Home has invested in their community since 2005 by establishing a city wide low-income spay/neuter assistance program. Through an application process, they identify families who can not afford to alter their pets and help provide the funds to do so.
In their community of roughly 6000, they have consistently made an impact in pet owning homes.
We know that altering dogs lowers the chance of dog bites, and decreases the likelihood of strays. We also know that altering pets can reduce the incidents of behavior problems that may result in the owner giving up the pet. And of course altered pets lowers the number of unwanted litters and long term pet overpopulation.
Almost Home has recently extended their assistance to families in Sioux Falls on a limited basis. With a common goal of community safety, better pet healthy, and more happy pet owners we are happy to announce a partnership between SDCCA and Almost Home!
Begining January 1st, 2010 volunteers with SDCCA will begin assisting Almost Home in coordinating their spay / neuter assistance on a broader scale in the Sioux Falls area. With the established success, guidance, and protocol provided by staff of Almost Home, we foresee a wonderful opportunity to reach out to pet owners in our community.
Both Almost Home & SDCCA are staffed by unpaid volunteers. We rely on the good will of our community to raise funds and support for our efforts. These funds pay for veterinary services (spay / neuter, vaccine in certain cases, supplies, printed materials, and postage). Funds for this effort directly support the needs of families living in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
